Jamshedpur, May 11: The highlight at the workshop on business ethics held at the Centre for Excellence by the social development and community affairs panel of CII today was the importance of ethical practice in business.
The half-day workshop was intended to disseminate knowledge of business ethics among business organisations. Representatives from 17 companies including Tata Steel, Lafarge, Tisco Growth Shop and Tata Motors took part in the workshop.
Managing director of Jamshedpur Utilities and Services Company (Jusco), Sanjiv Paul cited the example of Tata Steel to show that the importance of managing business ethically has been universally accepted.
The JRD Tata chair professor for business ethics at XLRI, Sarosh J. Ghandy emphasised the importance of “People Ethics.” Ethics is a small part of the leadership quality in people which should be nurtured, he said.
