Jamshedpur court seeks clarification on Thackeray warrant
Submitted by vinayras on Wed, 2008-11-19 10:19.Ranchi: A Jamshedpur court on Monday sought a clarification from Mumbai Police on the execution of its warrant against Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, who had been arrested and soon freed on bail in Mumbai on Saturday.
"Judicial Magistrate A K Tewary has sought an execution-of-arrest warrant report from Mumbai Police. The court also rejected Thackeray's petition seeking exemption from personal appearance in the court," Hamid Raza, a lawyer who filed a petition against the MNS chief in the court, said.

The 40-year-old leader was arrested from his suburban Dadar residence this afternoon and produced before the Mazgaon Sessions Court amid tight security following a non-bailable warrant issued by the Jamshedpur court last month after he failed to appear before it.

No hearing of Raj Thackeray's transfer of case plea
Submitted by vinayras on Sat, 2008-11-15 09:54.Ranchi, Nov 14: MNS chief Raj Thackeray's plea for transfer a complaint case from a Jamshedpur court to Mumbai could not come up for hearing in the Jharkhand High Court on Friday.
The hearing on Thackeray's petition was listed in the court of Chief Justice Gyan Sudha Mishra, but the court did not sit in the afternoon when the matter was supposed to come up.
Thackeray filed the petition last month after a complaint case was lodged against him in a Jameshedpur court in June in which the complainant charged him with insulting religious belief.

There is always a big gap between theory and practice, theology and history. Indian constitution, no doubt, is one of the best in the world. It is truly secular in spirit so much so it was secular even when word secular was not added to it until 1975 i.e. during emergency. If it were truly implemented India would be an ideal country to live in especially for minorities, both religious as well as linguistic.
Jharkhand HC defers hearing into Raj Thackeray’s case
Submitted by vinayras on Fri, 2008-10-31 09:39.Ranchi, Oct 25: The Jharkhand High Court on Saturday deferred the hearing into MNS chief Raj Thackeray’s plea for stay on a non-bailable arrest warrant issued by a Jamshedpur court for making derogatory remarks against Biharis, till November 14.
Raj had moved the High Court in Ranchi after the Jamshedpur Judicial Magistrate (First Class) A K Tiwari issued the warrant against the MNS chief on September 30 to appear before him on November 17.
The HC had posted the matter for hearing on October 25.

A single bench of B.K. Sinha fixed the hearing to Nov 14, Thackeray’s lawyer Neeraj Rai said.
Thackeray had moved Jharkhand High Court against a non-bailable arrest warrant issued by a Jamshedpur court Sep 30.

The MNS chief's lawyers also rushed to Ranchi to move the Jharkhand High Court for anticipatory bail, a MNS official said.

The court of 1st class judicial magistrate A K Tiwary on Tuesday issued the warrant and directed him to be present personally in the court on November 17.
It ordered that a copy of the arrest warrant be issued to the Mumbai police commissioner for its execution.
