Bangalore hospital reveals roadmap to better cardiac care

yderabad, February 7 -- Patients who need cardiac [pertaining to the heart.] care have a reason to rejoice. When the plans of the Bangalore-based hospital Narayana Hrudayalaya mature, affordable cardiac care would be more accessible to the masses.

Narayana Hrudayalaya has earmarked an amount of Rs 1,000 crores to be invested in the next five years in health cities. The ambitious plans include setting up more than 30,000 beds across the length and breadth of the country.

Jharkhand District Gets New School for HIV-infected Children

In Jharkhand's Hazaribagh district, the noble task of sheltering and nurturing HIV-infected children is underway.

The Holy Cross Society, led by Sister Britto, has taken up the mission of supporting children suffering from AIDS.

With the help of Jharkhand Education Project (JEP), the organization have started a school called Gyandeep Aavasiye Vidyalaya.

Currently home to 49 students, the school hopes to cover the rest of the children from the nearby districts soon.

Orissa doc down with swine flu

ROURKELA: A doctor enployed with SAIL tested positive for swine flu on Monday. A K Banwar, a doctor posted at SAIL's Kiriburu mines hospital, was
admitted to IGH here with severe respiratory problems on Thursday afternoon.

Suspecting swine flu, doctors sent his swab samples to Kolkata. The report came back positive on Monday. "We have kept him in isolation in the ICU and administered the necessary medicines," IGH deputy director S Mishra said. "We have also advised his wife, who is also a doctor at the same hospital, to take preventive drugs," Mishra added.

Red Cross blood camp a success

Jamshedpur, Oct. 1: Over 500 units of blood were collected at a blood donation camp organised by the district unit of Indian Red Cross Society to mark the National Blood Donation Day here today.

Chambers Bhavan, the venue of the camp, was teeming with donors who made a beeline from 8am. Voluntary Blood Donors Association and Jamshedpur Blood Bank also extended their support to make the camp a success.

No assembly session, but Jharkhand legislators keep getting salary

Ranchi, Sep 18 : In the eight months since president's rule was imposed in Jharkhand, state legislators have been getting their basic salary and medical expenses without having to do any work.
President's rule was imposed Jan 19 and since then the state assembly has been kept under suspended animation.

Under suspended animation, a legislator gets a salary of Rs.8,000 plus Rs.3,000 for medical facilities every month.

Swine flu fear back in steel city

Jamshedpur, Sept. 15: After a month’s reprieve, the swine flu virus is once again threatening steel city residents.

Nutan Ali, a doctor and the owner of a nursing home at Mango, along with her daughter have tested positive for H1N1.

“I had been to New Delhi to visit my daughters and stayed there for a week. My younger daughter was down with cold when I left for Jamshedpur on September 9. The next day, I came to know that she was swine flu positive,” said Ali.

Jharkhand sets up help-lines to deal with H1N1

Ranchi, Aug 19 (PTI) Jharkhand government has set up help-lines and control rooms across the state to help the people fight the swine flu, official sources said today.

Only one person had tested positive for swine flu in the state two weeks ago in Jamshedpur, they said, adding he has already been cured.

Other 14 samples of swine flu suspects sent from the state for test has been negative.

Jharkhand asks major hospitals to set up isolation wards

Ranchi , Aug 14 With swine flu tightening its grip on the country, the Jharkhand government today decided to set up three labs for testing samples and asked major hospitals in the state to open isolation wards.
Directing Health Secretary Sivendu to initiate steps in this regard, Governor K Sankaranaryan asked the department to ensure cleanliness and hygienic conditions in at the health centres.

The health secretary apprised the governor of the measures taken by the department to combat swine flu.
