Ranchi (PTI) More than 170 top athletes of the country will be seen in action in Jamshedpur on Sunday and in Ranchi on June 10 in the fourth and fifth legs of the Indian Grand Prix athletics meets respectively.
"Any athlete aspiring to get a place in Indian team in their respective events should participate in at least three of the Grand Prix series and we hope big stars participating in the two legs," Jharkhand Athletics Association President M.K. Pathak told a press conference here.
"A couple of stars have skipped at least one of the three previous legs and they will have to travel Jharkhand to meet the mandatory requirement of their participation in the series," he said.
The two Indian GP legs will provide another chance to the athletes to qualify for the August 15-23 World Championships in Berlin.
"There will be a cash prize of Rs 25,000 per event, which will be distributed by the Athletics Federation of India at the end of the series taking into account all the wins in the series," Mr. Pathak said.
