Jamshedpur, July 1: If films were always your calling, but a platform to showcase your skills was missing, this is your opportunity.
Calcutta-based Take 5 Communications and Society for Promotion of Professional Excellence will jointly organise a short film festival, Shorts-09, at Centre for Excellence from July 11 to 13. DBMS English School alumnus Tathagata Bhattacharjee, who is the CEO of Take 5 Communications, is the brain behind the event.
“This will be the second year of the short film festival in Jamshedpur. The festival is being organised to give a platform to amateur directors, producers and technicians in the state where exposure is near negligible. I hope they benefit from the three-day festival,” Bhattacharjee told The Telegraph over phone from Calcutta.
The festival will screen 12 films made by professional and amateur filmmakers. Professional will include names like Bhattacharjee himself, national award winner Biyot Projna Tripathy and Abhishek Ganguly. Films in English, Hindi and Bengali will be screened at the festival and more entries of the films are expected in the coming days.
Films will be screened on the first two days while on the third day students will get to interact with the filmmakers. A panel discussion is also scheduled on the last day. From next year, mass communication students will be invited to screen their films at the fest.
“The films which students make may not be technically on a par with professionals but we want to concentrate on the concept and content of their film,” he said.
Bhattacharjee, who have recently shot a short film titled Zindagi Khwaab Hai in the city, will also be screened at the festival.
