Jamshedpur, Nov 1 (PTI) Gurki Shergill bagged his maiden professional title, beating defending champion Shamim Khan in the play-off to win the eighth Tata Open golf tournament here today.
Pune-based Shergill and Delhi golfer Shamim, joint overnight leaders, carded identical scores of one-under 69 in the final round to be once again tied at the top of the leaderboard with scores of 12-under 270 after the regulation 72 holes.
Shergill finally came through on the first playoff hole.
His fabulous win has now catapulted him from 67th to 31st spot on the Aircel PGTI Order of Merit.
Mohd Siddikur Rahman of Bangladesh finished third at eight-under 274.
The final round had the same format as the third round with the entire field playing nine holes each on both the courses, Beldih as well as Golmuri.
