RANCHI: The Jharkhand government has granted a prospecting licence (PL) to Tata Steel for the Ankua iron ore mines. A senior company official
said Tata Steel has been allocated 1,800 hectares for prospecting in the Ankua area.
The state government had recommended to the Centre a separate iron ore prospecting area two years ago at Ankua (West Singhbhum) to Essar Steel, JSW and Tata Steel.
The Centre approved the recommendation last year. Subsequently, the state government granted a prospecting licence to Essar Steel and JSW, but not Tata Steel. However, the proposal has now been cleared by Jharkhand governor Syed Sibtey Razi.
