Jamshedpur: Holding both the Maoists and the government for the plight of tribals, Jharkhand Disom Party (JDP) founder President Salkhan Murmu on Sunday expressed apprehension about the proposed 'operation greenhunt' in the Naxal-affected areas of Jharkhand, West Bengal and Orissa.
"The adivasi community would get sandwiched between the Naxals and the operation greenhunt which may turn it operation redhunt," Murmu told a press conference here after holding a meeting of JDP.
Mulling over the possible impact of Operation Green hunt, the JDP leadership held both the Naxal groups as well as the government responsible for violating 'human rights provisions'.
Referring to a recent statement of Maoist leader Koteshwar Rao Alias Kishenji that 95 per cent of its cadre were adivasis, Murmu regretted that though the ultra outfit had been calling bandhs frequently over sundry issues, they never bothered to call a shutdown over an issue protecting the tribals interest.
"It seems that the Naxals did not have any tribal agenda in regard with hasa (land), Bhasa (language), Pesa (panchayat election), displacement and migrations," he said.
Naxals were exploiting poor Adivasis for personal gains, he said alleging that the naxals only indulged in destructive mission harming the interest of innocent adivasis, Murmu said.
