SHUKLA - Hundreds have thronged Jharkhand’s Shukla village to witness the traditional buffalo fight.
The event is organised every year by the villagers after they are through with their agricultural activities.
The fight is a means of entertainment for the villagers and also a show of strength of the buffaloes.
“All of us are very hardworking people and after getting free from the agricultural activities, we organise this buffalo fight. This fight is a show of a buffalo’s strength. It is a test to see how well a person has kept his buffalo,” said Duryodhan Mahato, a villager.
The villagers start preparing for the event well in advance.
Around eight to ten youth work really hard on one buffalo to prepare it for the fight.
The buffalo is well fed and exercised to keep it fit for the fight. It is a part of our tradition and means of entertainment for us.
Around eight to ten youth work really hard with a buffalo to prepare it for the fight,” said Madhusudan Mahato, another villager.
This year there were around 20 buffaloes that competed in the event. (ANI)
