JAMSHEDPUR: In the light of growing incidence of violence and ragging in schools, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a
directive to all its affiliated institutions to prevent children with the help of counsellors from taking the extreme step of committing suicide in the aftermath of such incidents.
CBSE has asked the schools to appoint counsellors from the next session and have asked schoolteachers to play the role of counsellors for the time being.
"We have received the circular and are working on ways to ensure the early implementation of the circular guidelines," said Gerald Martin D'Souza, principal of St Mary's English School. The principal, nonetheless, appreciated the circular guidelines.
