ITS ABOUT the attitude of a woman, her passion, wits, confidence and mostly about beauty, both outer and inner. A beauty pageant is not just the pathway to glamour but also an opportunity for the winner, the competitor and the courage hidden in a woman to come out. And that’s exactly what they looked for among contestants at the Miss India East 2010 hunt for the coming year’s Pantaloon Femina Miss India.
The four and a half decade old beauty pageant had already opened doors for girls from all zones to showcase their talents at the global level through sub pageants organised city-wise since last year. The two-day audition for this year kick started in Bhubaneswar on December 4 and beauties from all over the State, including few students from the neighbouring states of Chhatisgarh and Jharkhand (that also come under the East Zone) gathered at the Pantaloon mall for a walk-in audition. However, a thorough scrutiny by the selection squad, judging under the criteria of age, height, smartness and looks, shortlisted the candidates for the next round. The screening for the following day was done by Pantaloon Femina Miss India 2009 finalist Konkana Bakshe. Sushree Sriya Mishra of Sambalpur, Kirat Ahluwalia of Jamshedpur and Unnati Davara of Raipur have been selected for the final zonal round, all of whom are students.
“It’s a childhood dream and now that the journey has begun I have to focus on clearing the next round which will be tougher. From diction to walk to figure, each of us will have to work hard,” said Sushree. The pretty ladies will compete in the Elimination Round to be held on January 28, 2010 at Kolkata. If selected, an eight-day residential training will be provided to the girls in February to groom for the grand finale scheduled for February 19.
