Jamshedpur, Jan. 2: It is awards time for the Jamshedpur chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA).
The IMA and two of its functionaries have been conferred a national-level award for their performance last year.
The national committee of the IMA, also conferred the recognition to secretary, Mritunjay Singh and president A.C. Akhauri for their performances.
The award was given to them at the national conference of the association organised at Indore on December 27.
The ace association of India doctors has over 1,000 chapters across the country. For the first time, the city chapter has been selected for the honour. The chapter was constituted in 1944.
Speaking at a news meet organised at the IMA office, functionaries claimed that the award would encourage them to take up more projects in the future.
“It is for the first time that we have walked away with three awards, which was made possible due to the collective effort of our members,” said Jamshepdur chapter president Akhauri.
“Last year, we organised several free health camps in the rural areas of the district. All the camps were organised due to the efforts put in by the association. Seminars and conferences, which were organised last year also ensured positive results,” said Jamshedpur chapter general secretary Mritunjay Singh.
Members present at the meeting claimed this was a significant moment for them as the organisation lacks adequate infrastructure in the district. Constructing a proper building is the main agenda for them this year.
