Dr. Abhinav Kumar
Abhinav Kumar (born on September 1, 1980) is a mathematician, who works in algebraic geometry, number theory, and sphere packing.
He received his S.B. (2002) in Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science from MIT, and his Ph.D. (2006) from Harvard University, where he studied under Barry Mazur and Noam Elkies.
He studied in Loyola School, Jamshedpur.
He is a twice Putnam fellow and has an Erd?s number of 3. He works on sphere packing in high dimensions. He won the gold medal at the International Mathematics Olympiad in the year 1998 and a silver medal in the year 1997. He also stood first in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) conducted by the IITs in the year 1998.
Currently he lives in Cambridge and works as an Assistant Professor at MIT.
