Protests against non-sanction of jobs under NREGA in Jharkhand

Latehar (PTI): Noted social activist Jean Dreze on Thursday staged a dharna near the district collectorate along with members of the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan demanding allowance for job-card holdersnot given work under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA).

Demanding transparency in the implementation of works under NREGA, Drez said that labourers who sought job should be given employment within the next fifteen days.

The Lok Adalat, initiated by the Jharkhand Judicial Services Authority, will hear the complaints regarding this on Saturday.

Drez, a member of the Central Employment Guarantee Council, an NREG watchdog, has been working for proper implementation of the Act.
