JMM nurses hopes of forming govt in Jharkhand
New Delhi, Feb 11 : With Jharkhand assembly still under suspended animation, Shibu Soren-led JMM nurses hopes of forming an alternative government in the tribal state, which has seen six chief ministers in the last eight years.
"I am still with UPA and I am making a last attempt to form an alternative government led by UPA in the state, former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren told reporters here after attending the all-party meeting called by Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee.
Soren, however, for the first time indicated that there was much more than what meets the eyes in his recent defeat in the Tamar by-election in the state, where he lost to a political green horn defying the calculations of poll pundits.
"I was running a JMM-led government in the state and I had to become an MLA to continue as Chief Minister. I do not know how I lost the election. But people know how I got defeated," Soren said.
JMM leaders have privately talked of internal dissension in the UPA as the reason behind Soren's defeat.
"He contested from the non-JMM Tamar seat at the insistence of senior UPA leaders. Moreover, Tamar joins with areas which are Congress strong holds," a senior party leader told
