Jharkhand gets grant

RANCHI (Jharkhand), Feb. 5: The Union ministry of home affairs has decided to sanction a onetime express grant of Rs 20 crore to Jharkhand to beef up the state’s Intelligence network dealing with Maoist extremism in and around the state. According to an official communiqué forwarded by the ministry to the state police higher-ups, all necessary details for utilisation of the grant have been sought by tomorrow.
News about the hijacking of the Ranchi-bound 2,878 New Delhi-Ranchi Garib Rath Express brought several family members of the passengers travelling in the train to Ranchi station today. The anxious relatives waited eagerly for the train to arrive and breathed a sigh of relief after meeting their near and dear ones, when the train arrived in Ranchi this morning. However, the railways have categorically denied the news of hijack of the train and blamed a section of the media to blow an internal railway operational matter, out of proportion. n SNS
