Arjun Munda seeks new trains from Tatangar and Ranchi
Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda has requested Railway Ministry to allocate around 6 new trains originating from Ranchi & Tatanagar. He explained that Ranchi, being the capital of Jharkhand, is not connected directly to major cities through rail route. "Ranchi has no direct link to many parts of the country," Munda said in a letter to Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi, according to a state government statement issued on Tuesday. "Industrial cities like Bokaro, Jamshedpur and Dhanbad do not have proper rail link with other parts of the country," he added.

The 32nd Sahara Senior National Archery Championship will be held at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur, from January 24 to 29, 2012. This Championship will give opportunity to aspiring Archers to book berth in National archery team. They may also be eligible for the first Asian Grand Prix at Bangkok (February 14 to 20). The best five finishers in the men's re-curve section will vie for three places in the Indian team, and the best five women will vie for one spot in the women's recurve team at a selection trials to be held at SAI, Eastern Centre, from February 3 to 6.

Youth goes for turmeric farming to prevent being drawn to Maoists
Youngsters from Raisindri village in Jharkhand's Jamshedpur District have taken up turmeric farming to keep themselves away from Maoists. Maoists leaders are very active in recruiting local unemployed youngsters. And youngsters most of the time used to work for them just for some financial gains. Jharkhand Jangal Bachao Andolan has taken up the issues of training the local youth about methods and benefits better farming such as turmeric cultivation. Gopal Singh Munda, a resident of Raisindri village said the cultivation of turmeric was a welcome development.
