Didi Bank empowers women in and around Jamshedpur

Didi Bank started by 11 rural women to empower economically weaker female members in Charbandiya village of Maoist-hit west Singhbhum district.

The group started off with an initial capital of Rs 5,000 now has a bank balance of Rs 2 lakh.

"In the past two years, we have sanctioned loan of Rs 2 lakh to 75 other SHGs in the block," said bank director Veronita Lakra (45) the brain behind the formation of Didi Bank

Overall Didi Bank has been successfully mitigating the common problems of women in district.
