A three-member team of Kolhan University (KU) visited Co-operative college, and announced various measures to improve the image and facilities of college. Jamshedpur Co-operative College was setup in the year 1970. The team comprising registrar K C Dey, assistant registrar S S Akhtar and finance officer Brajesh Tiwary announced that the college would have adequate infrastructure ahead of the beginning of the law course proposed in June.

Villager of Dhahra Nirmala Devi says, "There are two benefits of planting trees. One, we sell the fruits of the tree to make money for the girl’s marriage and secondly it help environment."

In May 2010, after Gyaneswari Express accident, all night trains were stopped on this route from 10PM to 5 AM. From tonight itself, Howrah- Ranchi/Hatia Express will run as per its old timing and on its old route via-Khagarpur-Tatanagar section instead of the diverted route via Asansol-Dhanbad.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda has requested Railway Ministry to allocate around 6 new trains originating from Ranchi & Tatanagar. He explained that Ranchi, being the capital of Jharkhand, is not connected directly to major cities through rail route. "Ranchi has no direct link to many parts of the country," Munda said in a letter to Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi, according to a state government statement issued on Tuesday. "Industrial cities like Bokaro, Jamshedpur and Dhanbad do not have proper rail link with other parts of the country," he added.
