Jamshedpur ‘International Film Week’ starts February 22
The Celluloid Chapter is organizing Jamshedpur - International Film Festival to promote arts. The Celluloid Chapter has been organising this event since past 27 years in the steel city. Approximately 14 internationally awarded films, including Norwegian films, will be screened in the seven-day long cinematic event. The event will conclude on February 29 with the screening of Bangladeshi film Guerrilla, based on the events of the Bangladesh Liberation War

Finally a very good news for the people of Jamshedpur - Airport Authority of India (AAI) has finalized reports to build an airport in the city. Jharkhand State government signed MOU with AAI on 16th Feb 2012 in the presence of Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Shri Arjun Munda, Sibu Soren and other senior officers of Jharkhand Government. Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Arjun Munda informed us that survey of land for the airport has already started.

All India Santali Film Association (AISFA) has lamented that Jharkhand state is not doing enough to promote Santhali films which are of great potential. "There is no dearth of talent and Jharkhand is full of scenic beauty. But the approach of the state government is not encouraging to promote Santali and other regional films," President of AISFA, Ramesh Hansda, said here today.

Summer Special trains from Tatanagar

South Eastern Railway (SER) has decided to run special trains this summer in order to reduce the rush. As per information received by MyJamshepur team, two special trains are scheduled to run on the Howrah - Mumbai route in this summer. First Train: Train #08201: Will start from Shalimar (Howrah), pass though Tatanagar station at 6:25 AM and will run upto Durg. Returning train number is #08200 and this train will return to Shalimar from Durg through Tatanagar every Wednesdays at 14:40 hours.

Tata Steel bagged the 'Best Sports Advertisement' and 'Best Corporate Involvement in Sports' awards at the grand finale of NDTV's 'Marks for Sports' campaign. This was celebrated with the 'Spirit of Sport' awards ceremony held at New Delhi on February 5, 2012 . The awards were received by Mr Sanjiv Paul, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel, on behalf of the Company from India's tennis legend Leander Paes and Director General, Sports Authority India, Mr Desh Deepak Verma.

Jamshedpur will soon have a tea farm in nearby district Seraikela-Kharswan district. Seraikela-Kharswan district is famous for many small scale industries specially for the automotive industry. But now, if things go well, it will be known for Tea farming also. The district horticulture department has begun plantation of 2700 tea saplings in about half hectare area in the government-owned nursery in Seraikela sub division of the district. This is on an experimental basis.

A three-member team of Kolhan University (KU) visited Co-operative college, and announced various measures to improve the image and facilities of college. Jamshedpur Co-operative College was setup in the year 1970. The team comprising registrar K C Dey, assistant registrar S S Akhtar and finance officer Brajesh Tiwary announced that the college would have adequate infrastructure ahead of the beginning of the law course proposed in June.

For every girl born, villagers plant 10 mango trees. The result, this is the greenest stretch in Bhagalpur, with over 20,000 mango trees in and around the village. Villager of Dhahra Nirmala Devi says, "There are two benefits of planting trees. One, we sell the fruits of the tree to make money for the girl’s marriage and secondly it help environment."
